Implant Dentistry

Implants have been used in dentistry since the 1950’s. Of course they were crude and had limited success. It took until the 1990’s to develop a cylindrical (root shaped) implant system that is now considered the “Gold Standard”. It’s success rates have proven as high or higher than any other procedure in dentistry.

Today’s dental implants are now considered the treatment of choice when a single tooth is lost. They are so successful that it is also the chosen treatment if it appears a root canal treatment, to save a tooth, has a questionable future.

Single Missing Teeth

Implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth. Until approximately 2002 this only worked on back teeth where esthetics was not a concern. Through research and development new designs emerged that provide incredible esthetics for front teeth pleasing even the most particular patients. In some cases implants can be surgically placed and a temporary crown cemented the same day so you never leave the office without a tooth.

Non-removable Dentures

Multiple implants can be placed to restore a full mouth of missing teeth. YOU NO LONGER HAVE TO HAVE REMOVABLE TEETH! No more embarrassing moments or lack of confidence in social situations. Some patients with dentures only need 2-4 implants to secure the denture and prevent it from dislodging. Another option is the hybrid denture. It is permanently fixed on the implants and can only be removed by the dentist for annual cleaning and inspection. And of course, the final option is a row of porcelain teeth that feel like your natural teeth. Not fill.
