Cosmetic Dentistry

Your smile is as much a part of your look as the hairstyles you choose or as the clothes you feel best flatter you. Why not have a say in what your smile looks like? After all, first impressions are important… and your smile is often the first thing people see when they meet you. As you know, aged looking teeth make you look older. Dr. Greer says, “If you want to look younger, consider enhancing your smile first. Dark and/or worn teeth certainly show your true age.”

If you’re thinking of adding a little “something” to your smile, Dr. Greer and his staff can help you with cosmetic dentistry. A consultation with regard to your personal dental situation is all it takes to get started.

Whether we use bleaching agents to lighten and brighten teeth that are dull and discolored, bond porcelain veneers or the even more affordable direct resin veneers to your teeth, or correct your teeth’s imperfections by way of natural-looking crowns, bridges, inlays, and onlays… once you’ve decided on the changes that suit you best, we’ll get to work fashioning a bright smile tailored perfectly for you.

If changing the shape of some of your teeth is in order, we can do everything from re-contouring to re-positioning them via orthodontics. All these procedures add polish to your smile, and give your teeth a new, natural looking beauty.

We all want our smiles to look great! And when you look good, you’ll have a lot more to smile about. Please contact us if you think cosmetic dentistry may be for you.

Direct Resin Veneers

Direct resin veneer is the process of building aesthetic restorations directly into the patient’s mouth using the newest generations of “life-like” composite materials.  The patient experiences the “wow” effect of instant whitening and straightening in one visit.  It is truly a one-stop smile makeover!

Direct resin veneer is virtually the same concept as the porcelain veneer except it takes only one visit. The dentist builds the restoration himself, rather than having a laboratory technician build the porcelain veneer in the ceramic lab, with the dentist subsequently bonding them in your mouth at a second visit two weeks later.  Therefore, the dentist is in full control of the color, shape, and details of the final look with direct resin veneers.  It is a freehand technique, with varying degrees of opacities and translucencies, artfully layered on each tooth to give a beautiful smile.

These restorations are typically less expensive than porcelain veneers and typically last 7-15 years.  Porcelain veneers may last 10-15 years.  The final look of both is virtually undetectable in comparison.

Most dentists do not provide this option due to the artistic ability inherent in the design of these unique restorations.  But, more dentists are embracing the procedure due to the recent improvements in the materials toward beauty and longevity. It takes passion and talent to learn the intricacies of building these restorations “in the mouth”.  Many dental professionals struggle with the freehand sculpting and layering of the correct thickness of colors and shades to generate life-like restorations.  Dentists have always relied on the ceramist to build their esthetic restorations and have not been properly trained in this important part of esthetic restorations.  This procedure is not taught in dental school and can only be learned through continuing education courses.

Dr. Greer has mastered the art of Direst Resin Veneering.  He has utilized the restoration in his practice for more than 15 years.  He lectures on smile design, as well as on the artful placement of absolutely life-like direct veneer restorations. Gallery

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneer Restorations
“The changes Porcelain Veneers can make to your smile and confidence are absolutely amazing.” Dr. D.W. Greer

Transforming your image, looking younger, instantly straighten your teeth without braces and creating a “dazzling white” smile are just a few of the benefits of porcelain veneers.

Dr. Greer has placed thousands of veneers.  The first case was as early as 1989.  These are thin veneers of porcelain strongly bonded to the enamel of your teeth much like fake acrylic nails are bonded to your natural nail.  When bonded properly they become the strongest porcelain restoration in dentistry.  Dr. Greer has placed all brands of veneers including Lumineers (www.lumineers.com), Empress and E-Max Pressed Veneers, and MAC veneers.

After a thorough examination Dr. Greer will determine the best material for your situation.
